Lecturer - Academic First Year Experiences
Brief Biography
I am Professor Rokeya Rahman. I am a first-generation immigrant and came from Bangladesh. I completed my B.S. and M.S. in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After coming to the United States, I went to LA City College to and earned my A.A. in Child Development and then to California State University, Northridge to earn a Master’s degree in Family Studies. I have more than 15 years of experience working in the early childhood education field as a teacher, program site supervisor, program director, and instructional coach. I also have 6 years of experience teaching as an adjunct and currently as a full-time faculty at East Los Angeles College. I am thrilled to join the Matador family as a part-time lecturer in child development and I am so proud to be back on the campus. Outside of teaching, I love to read and write poetry, and learn new knowledge and skills through professional development workshops. A fun fact about me: I love reading children's books and offering parenting classes for my community and local school.
